“Stella, what is it, what was this idyllic place, Rhodes, that you want to recreate it everywhere you go? You look for Rhodes”.*

 

After Auschwitz they took us to Germany to work. I worked on four other camps and till the Americans came on the thirtieth of April nineteen forty-five. A small camp called Allach, you will find it also in the archives, Allach. It was near Dachau.

 

After Auschwitz. Auschwitz was liberated on the twenty-seventh of January. We stayed until the thirtieth of April nineteen forty-five. And then we went to Italy, I went to Italy with my sister, we were Italian citizens, and then from Italy we went to the States.

 

I did not want to come back here [Rhodes]. It was dead for me…
