In the context of the Athens State Orchestra’s “Ad Libitum” project, the artist Artemis Alcalay talks about Block 15 of the Haidari concentration camp – the place of absolute horror and martyrdom during the German Occupation and the National Resistance, through her family and artistic experience. The composer Dimitrios Dimopoulos is inspired by human rights and composes the work “No Borders (Secret City)”.

The project “Ad Libitum”, on the theme of human rights, is an initiative of the Athens State Orchestra (A.S.O.) and is part of the cultural activities of the Greek Chairmanship of the Council of Europe. The A.S.O. has commissioned five young Greek composers to deliver new works. The works were linked to historical landmarks of Attica, which are identified with human rights. Personalities who have left their mark on the fight for human rights, experientially, academically, politically and through art, and through music, speak about these places of memory. The “Ad Libitum” project is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
