Creation, Protection, Memory: A Discussion on Art During World War II and in the Decades That Followed

In the context of the exhibition “1945: The End of the War” at the Former Public Tobacco Factory, a discussion was held on Thursday 28 May 2026, on art during World War II and its protection in the decades that followed.

The discussion, moderated by Elli Lemonidou, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Patras, featured Eugenia Alexaki, Assistant Professor of Art History at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, artist Artemis Alcalay, and Eleftheria Dalezou, historian and archivist at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens.
Artemis Alcalay presented the project “Greek Jews Holocaust Survivors,” followed by a discussion with the audience.
