Lebendige Erinnerung

In the context of the commemorative event Lebendige Erinnerung [Living Memory] for Holocaust Remembrance Day, organized by the German School of Athens in January 2026, Artemis Alcalay participated in the travelling exhibition “Die Deportation der Juden und Jüdinnen aus Ioannina” [The Deportation of Jews from Ioannina] by Humboldt University of Berlin.

Her participation included 11 photographs of Jews from Ioannina, survivors of Auschwitz, from the project “Greek Jews Holocaust Survivors.”

The exhibitions were co-funded, among others, by the European Union’s CERV program, as part of the REM HERITAGE – Holocaust Education: Remembrance through Intergenerational Exchange project, in which the German School of Athens has been participating since April 2025.
