We were saved by the Spaniards…

We left with the last, with the last transport, in ‘42, ‘41, I don’t remember exactly when, it was when all Spanish nationals left.

We were saved by the Spaniards…

For about five months [we stayed in Bergen-Belsen]. [Then], we stayed in Barcelona. We were at Hotel Navarra, on Cataluña street, the finest avenue. We had a nice time.

After Barcelona we went to Casablanca. We spent another five-six months there and then we started on our way back to Greece, but the Germans were still in Greece, so we were sent on an army vessel towards Egypt. In Nuseirat Gaza Palestine, that I mentioned, we stayed for another five-six months until Greece was liberated. Others preferred to stay in Tel Aviv, my father had property here, so we returned.
