We on Velissariou Street, in the Jewish quarter, near Spilia, in the city centre, but there were also Christians in the neighbourhood, like the baker. We had friends; we ate together on our holidays and their holidays.
In the summer, we would go to the countryside on a boat; we girls would ride bikes. We had a good time. We weren’t rich, but we weren’t poor either. We went to school. I didn’t manage to finish; I only got as far as primary school. Then the war broke out.
